Trent Maxwell

Trent Maxwell is the co-founder and Director of the Live Learn Survive charity, a Firefighter and Author but you may recognise him as ‘Lifeguard Maxi’, the youngest ever Professional Lifeguard to work at Bondi Beach, his 17-year career being well documented on award winning TV show Bondi Rescue, airing in over 100 countries globally.

In 2016 Trent became a Firefighter for NSW Fire + Rescue then in 2018 he became a Qualified Rescue Operator.

2022 saw Trent promoted to Senior Firefighter and is now part of the rescue team based at Bankstown Fire Station in Sydney. This unique career combination see’s Trent as a much-needed young, positive, male role model for future generations.

Together with co-founder Leigh, Trent develops and delivers the Live Learn Survive educational workshops and online programs and works with schools, clubs and organisations to bring this education to every child, no matter their location or background.

Co Author of the award-winning Maxi the Lifeguard children’s book series, books that meet the Australian curriculum, and the Maxi’s Beach Rescue picture book Trent is also the co-host of the Live Learn Survive podcast with Leigh.

Together Trent and Leigh have travelled extensively doing this work having educated over 30,000 children face to face (and thousands more online) in 6 countries across more than 60 cities working with over 100 schools and children’s clubs and organisations.

Leigh Mason 

Leigh Mason is the co- founder, Chairperson and driving force behind Live Learn Survive which in 2022 became a registered charity. Co Author of Maxi’s Beach Rescue picture book and co-host of the Live Learn Survive podcast Leigh is also an experienced business manager and consultant and brings a wealth of business experience to the charity.

Founded with a vision to educate children with life skills that not only help themselves, but others in the community too, Live Learn Survive creates little superheroes. Together with co-founder Trent Maxwell, Leigh works with schools, clubs and organisations to bring this education to every child, no matter their location or background. A series of educational workshops and online programs supported by books that meet curriculum Leigh’s work has educated and impacted children in over 30 countries.

Meeting Trent in 2014 Leigh & Trent discovered they share a passion for water safety education, Trent as a Bondi Lifeguard and Leigh who as a teenager volunteered as a Qualified Student Swimming Teacher alongside her Mum who had a career as a Professional Pool Lifeguard and Swimming Teacher.
